Real Madrid absolutely certain of signing €70 million-rated star despite unclear timeline

Recent reports from MARCA suggest that Real Madrid are seriously considering Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold as a potential addition to their squad and while the exact timing is still uncertain, many agree that bringing in the Liverpool full-back could be a major step forward.

For some time now, Alexander-Arnold has been a key topic of discussion in strategic meetings, as Real Madrid evaluate their next big moves.

The club is now debating whether to stay patient and stick to their long-term plans or make a move soon, given the injury troubles currently affecting Carlo Ancelotti’s squad.

Real Madrid have typically avoided mid-season transfers over the last five years, preferring stability over hasty decisions in the winter market.

However, last season saw this resolve tested when first Eder Militao and then David Alaba were sidelined with serious ligament injuries. This season, the team is again vulnerable, particularly in the right-back and centre-back positions, both of which are thin due to ongoing player injuries.

Champions League tie a key

With the Champions League clash against Liverpool approaching, Real Madrid face a challenging moment. This match will be decisive for everyone involved in the transfer.

While Madrid recognise the importance of strengthening the team, club leaders are cautious about diving into the transfer market. One reason for restraint is the respectful relationship between Liverpool and Real Madrid, often described as “brother clubs.”

Real Madrid are wary of creating any tension with Liverpool by appearing too eager or urgent, as clubs tend to hike prices when they sense need.

Additionally, they wish to avoid paying inflated fees, especially as Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool seems uncertain. Reports indicate that the player is unlikely to renew his contract with Liverpool, which could make an early transfer to Madrid a feasible reality.

The current situation has added pressure on Real Madrid’s management to decide whether Alexander-Arnold’s arrival is worth fast-tracking.

If a transfer materialises sooner than anticipated, it could mark a significant boost to Real Madrid’s backline and, hopefully, restore the team’s stability amid this challenging season.
