Special Aerospace Services closes first PE-backed acquisition

Date:

Fresh off being acquired by private equity, spaceflight engineering company Special Aerospace Services has moved quickly to reveal its first acquisition with that backing.

SAS has purchased a similar outfit in Willbrook Solutions, a 75-employee provider of analytical services for government and commercial space customers. Terms of the transaction announced Tuesday were not disclosed.

Godspeed Capital Management unveiled SAS in April as the private equity firm’s vehicle for further investments in the space and missile defense areas.

Huntsville, Alabama-headquartered Willbrook is a woman-owned small business that launched in 2006 as a systems engineering specialist focused on defense programs. The company today supports efforts for the Defense Department, NASA, Missile Defense Agency, Army Corps of Engineers and other Army organizations.

SAS’ goal in adding Willbrook is to further expand expertise and offerings in ground and space-based missile defense, offensive and defensive missile systems analysis, modeling and simulation, and data analysis.
