Race 1. (13:02) Brc Membership Hcp 1200m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

4 Smart Recognition (Bet Now: $3.50) on top in the opener. This son of Smart Missile for Chris Anderson debuted over 1110m at Doomben where he got back in a very slowly run race and got keen in the run but despite that, he finished best and launched late to just miss out on picking up Nazorian, who got a picnic in front and was too good. Tempo should be more genuine this time around and he’ll love 1200m at Eagle Farm.

Danger

2 Trifling (Bet Now: $2.35) is heading in the right direction. Helen Page trained filly that ran three weeks ago at the Sunny Coast where she did a bit wrong early, settling near last, before being presented wider with clear air and she put the race to bed in a couple of strides, drawing clear to win and win well. Last couple of runs have been strong when ridden with a sit so provided that continues here, she likely goes close again.

Long Shot

7 Guchi Diva (Bet Now: $12.00) commands some level of respect for Desleigh Forster. This filly debuted at the Sunny Coast where she chased from the outset and actually did a pretty good job in defeat I thought when second to Boom Master. She was beaten six lengths but beat the rest by four lengths. Should be better for the run under the belt and is a key threat.

Race 2. (13:37) Gallopers Sports Club Hcp 1600m

Back Me

Back to the mile I find interesting with 6 Mubariz (Bet Now: $10.00) but he is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran over 1800m here two weeks ago and to the eye, it was just a run, but given the race shape, I just don’t think he was suited, so I am forgiving. Really good third up record and with the Waller polish, I am certainly not dismissing him, especially with Blinkers first time.

Danger

Fitter and up to the mile are two big ticks for 3 Namazu (Bet Now: $2.60). He had his first run for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp in the Sunny Coast Cup three weeks ago and was very good from off the speed, but was simply no match for Chaillot, but ran very well in running second. Great second up record and getting to the mile, he’ll take beating.

Long Shot

2 Tears Of Love (Bet Now: $7.00) will jump on the bunny and give a sight. He did that two weeks back here where he was left along in front, to the detriment of his rivals, because it allowed him to kick hard to fend them off and win well. That was his first run in a couple of months so you’d like to think there is improvement to come and while the last bit will test, he’ll give a sight.

Race 3. (14:12) Mount Franklin Hcp (C6) 1400m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

5 Love Sensation (Bet Now: $2.50) has really found form since joining Tony Gollan. Peach ride from Angela Jones saw her win three weeks ago at the Sunny Coast, getting the suck run behind the speed before angling clear and drove hard late to finish best, with class coming to the fore. I like her back to 1400m and back to the tighter track. Keen on her prospects, especially given the race is lacking serious depth.

Danger

Back to 1400m I do like for 1 Rock Amore (Bet Now: $3.40). Tony Gollan trained gelding that ran over 1500m here a fortnight back where he was tardy away and did a bit of work to find a spot. That early burn to find a spot told late, tiring to finish down the track behind Tears Of Love. Much better suited at 1400m and if he finds the front, getting control, he’ll take catching I’m sure.

Long Shot

3 Stuttering (Bet Now: $3.70) has had a few runs at around the 1200m-1300m distance range. He now gets to 1400m and I think that suits. He ran in the King Kapa race from a fortnight back where he got back off the moderate tempo and was never really a winning factor but stayed on behind the in form Gollan horse. Racing like 1400m suits and does find a winnable race.

Race 4. (14:47) Jewel Raceday 18 March (Bm90) 2200m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

3 Head Of State (Bet Now: $1.80) to win again. He looked a camel when racing in NSW/Vic but since coming to Queensland, he has looked a different horse, confirming that with a dominant win at this track/distance two weeks ago where he was put into a dream spot under Orman and he was always winning the race from a fair way out. Now he has that winning feeling, he can go on with it.

Danger

6 Scarlet Tufty (Bet Now: $4.00) is a key threat if the favourite is off his game. Jack Bruce had a couple accepted for the race and goes with the sole rep with this gelding, who has run well at the trip previously when racing in Victoria. Ran behind Mohican Heights last time and was a tad on the plain side on speed, tiring late. I reckon with a more patient steer, he will be more effective.

Long Shot

5 Hostage Of War (Bet Now: $9.00) is three weeks between runs for Brenton Andrew since racing at the Sunny Coast where he did his usual thing of leading and rolling in front, giving a decent sight but couldn’t quite finish it off, tiring to run third to First In Line. Last bit he’ll get the staggers but he could pinch it if he sets up a decent break.

Race 5. (15:28) Sky Racing (Bm72) 1810m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

10 Kopangi (Bet Now: $3.70) looks a coming winner for Chris Waller. He ran last Wednesday at this track/distance and was very good from near last, charging to the line late when second to Warp Speed, who had the dream run in transit and took advantage. Not sure how strong that race is and despite drawing a tricky gate, I think he’s the one that is knocking on the door. Just hoping for a more positive steer.

Danger

Fitter and up to 1800m are two big ticks for 3 Coup De Tonnerre (Bet Now: $11.00). Market said he’d need the run when resuming over the mile here two weeks ago and he ran accordingly, sitting near the speed and tiring late to finish seven lengths away from Vaccine. Might want one more run and a rise in trip, but he has more upside than most and the depth here is on the thin side.

Long Shot

4 Red Light Roxanne (Bet Now: $10.00) was scratched from the Sunny Coast on Friday night in preference for this race. She should appreciate a rise to 1800m after racing over the mile at Doomben last time where she got back and was good late in the piece when third to Vaccine. The depth here is very thin so if she can get a drag into the race, she’ll be strong at the end and is a key chance.

Race 6. (16:08) Xxxx Dry (Bm72) 1400m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

All things being equal, 4 Comrade Rosa (Bet Now: $1.45) has a fair bit on this lot. Tony Gollan trained mare that was frustrating in Sydney when with John O’Shea but has found her right place in Brisbane. Backed as if a moral two weeks ago here and despite a few nervous moments in the run, once Maloney angled her wider, away she went and she spanked her rivals. Depth here nowhere near as strong, so clearly she is the one to beat.

Danger

11 Lately (Bet Now: $23.00) is a son of Vadamos for Lee Freedman that resumes. He hasn’t raced since the Grafton Carnival when giving them an absolute spanking in a moderate Class 1/Maiden over 2200m under Brodie Loy, where he was ridden like he was the best horse in the race and duly saluted in dominant fashion. He may need the run, but in terms of upside/progression, he’s the horse, so watch the market.

Long Shot

8 Flybridge (Bet Now: $61.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. Barry Lockwood trained gelding that resumed in the Comrade Rosa race from two weeks back here where he was near last in the run and was never a winning threat but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind the mare. He can settle closer in the run if need be and has won second up previously.

Race 7. (16:48) M.M. G.Coast March 20-21 (C3) 1200m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

I think you have to give 10 Delyth (Bet Now: $5.50) another chance. Chris Munce trained mare that did more than enough fresh at Doomben behind the flying King Kapa. She then went to the Sunny Coast where she was absolutely smashed in betting and after getting every chance behind the speed, I thought she was quite plain late behind Light Of Boom. Third up now, so should be hard fit and she showed last prep she is Saturday class. Hopefully she can bounce back.

Danger

9 Zavaboom (Bet Now: $3.70) has an awful winning strike rate but he is a talented animal that can certainly take this out. He was a month between runs when racing over 1000m here a fortnight back and he rocketed to the line late from near last when a narrow second to Streaka. He’s racing like the 1200m will be ideal and with a more positive ride, he’ll take beating.

Long Shot

6 Thatfeelsbetter (Bet Now: $8.00) looks the perfect horse for A Mallyon. Sit, wait and launch late. Impressive first up win at the Sunny Coast before going here and was good late from the back behind Streaka. Think the rise to 1200m suits and should lob into a lovely spot from the gate. With a patient steer to allow him to launch late, he can win for sure.

Race 8. (17:28) Ladbrokes Punter Assist (Bm90) 1000m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

All things being equal, 2 The Bopper (Bet Now: $1.90) should be winning this. His run a few weeks ago at the Gold Coast was the run of the meeting by a mile. He was forced back to near last, spotting the leader 12+ lengths at one stage, and keeping in mind it was a 900m race, the fact he made up so much ground and got within a lip of beating Archer’s Paradox. Just has to run up to that here and he wins.

Danger

6 Rubiquitous (Bet Now: $3.70) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. He ran at the Sunny Coast three weeks ago where he was near the speed throughout and kept finding the line, looking the winner, only to be nabbed near the peg by Simply Fly, a borderline Stakes class animal. 1000m specialist and the form around him does read well for a race like this.

Long Shot

4 Osamu (Bet Now: $8.50) is an O’Dea/Hoysted trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since Melbourne Cup Day here when leading and tiring late to finish down the track behind Simply Fly. Resumes without a public trial but sprints well fresh, loves Eagle Farm and stable usually have them ready to go first up. Watch the market.

Race 9. (18:12) Girls Day Out 4 March (Bm72) 1600m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

13 Sunset Soiree (Bet Now: $7.00) on top for me. Tony Gollan trained filly that has been pretty good in three career outings, winning two with a third in between. The win last time was over 1300m at the Sunny Coast where she got back in the run but came with a well timed run and launched late to finish over the top for an impressive win. The mile looks ideal and has change up speed.

Danger

14 Alfa Lily (Bet Now: $31.00) is racing like the mile will be ideal. Close up behind Tsarina Sophia two back before going to 1400m here two weeks ago where she got a fair way back in the run but loved the way she found the line late in the piece when second to Executive Stress. Off that effort, 1600m should be fine and this doesn’t look an overly strong late. Hard to beat.

Long Shot

15 Red Star Rubi (Bet Now: $41.00) will likely spot these a start but should be strong at the end. She ran a fortnight back in the Executive Stress race where she was back and spotting them a start. Never really a threat but the finale was more than sound behind Executive Stress and a definite pass mark, beaten just over a length. Dangerous with a half positive steer.
