Austin Trail of Lights among the six best holiday light shows in the country

When it comes to holiday light displays, the Austin Trail of Lights is one of the best.

Online recreation news source RV Trader recently included the iconic Zilker Park attraction on a list of can’t-miss holiday light shows across the U.S. this year. The light show is near two campgrounds — the Austin Lone Star RV Resort and The Oaks RV Park & Campground — that makes it attractive to avid RV travelers.

The Austin Trail of Lights is considered by many to be the longest-running holiday tradition of its kind in Austin. It features more than 2 million lights, 90 lighted holiday trees and over 70 holiday displays.

The event is expected to open from Dec. 8-23. Tickets start at $8 for general admission and free for kids 12 and under. However, there are dates when admission will be free for seven of the 14 nights.

Keep Austin lit: Austin’s holiday light displays make it the most festive city in the U.S.

What are the other notable light displays?

  • Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens’ Gardens Aglow
  • Callaway Gardens’ Fantasy in Lights
  • Denver Botanic Gardens’ Blossoms of Light
  • New York City Window Wonderland
  • The Northern Lights
