Mayo College lift Alumni Cricket Bash trophy – The Tribune

Mayo College, Ajmer, won the 9th edition of the Alumni Cricket Bash (ACB) organised by the Old Sanawarian Society (OSS) of The Lawrence School, Sanawar. The title winners defeated Scindia School, Gwalior, by eight runs in a thriller at PCA’s stadium in Mullanpur near Chandigarh.

Earlier, Mayo College won the toss and decided to bat first. The team scored 154/8 with fine contributions from Yograj Singh (50) and Sherry Singh (30). Ayush Agarwal (3/25) took the majority of the wickets for the bowling side.

In reply, Scindia School, once struggling at 94/4, were well compensated by unbeaten knock of Kartik Chauhan (51). He steered the match closer to target in the last over. The team was restricted to 146/7. Sherry Singh was awarded the Man of the Match title for scoring 30, clinching two wickets and taking three catches.

The OSS president, Pankaj Sapru, felicitated the winners and runners-up in the presence of invited guests. Sherry Singh of Mayo College was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament and Best Batter, while Kartik Chauhan of Scindia School bagged the Best Bowler title. Abhay Khanna of Scindia School was declared the Best Fielder of the Tournament.

Dinesh Reddy of Doon School was given the title of Best Wicketkeeper.
