The first half was tight for most of the frame, with Michigan State not being able to build a double-digit lead until the final five minutes. The Spartans lead by as many as 17 points in the opening half, but a late run by the Bulldogs cut the Spartans lead to 40-28 at the break.

Ferris State came out swinging in the second half, cutting further into the Spartans lead early into the frame. The Bulldogs got the deficit down to only five points. However, from there, Michigan State took over and never looked back to earn the exhibition victory.

Michigan State was led in scoring by newcomer transfer forward Frankie Fidler, who finished with 14 points. Behind him was Coen Carr with 12 points and Xavier Booker with 10 points.

Michigan State shot 43 percent from the field, including a 7-of-22 performance from three-point range. Michigan State dominated on the boards with a 13-rebound advantage over the Bulldogs.
