NFL Week 12: Is it safe to bet on the Cowboys on Turkey Day?

Date:

Texas has the highest population of wild turkeys in the country, and you would think that number would dip this week as tables across the Lone Star State serve up the bird as part of their Thanksgiving feasts. However, the big bird population appears to get a slight increase this time of year thanks to the Dallas Cowboys’ Turkey Day antics.

The Cowboys are 7-3 on the season and are prepping for a Week 12 matchup against an inconsistent Washington Commanders team. Washington has lost two straight and Dallas has won two, so you may be tempted to put your money on the Cowboys as DraftKings lists them as 11-point favorites to win on Thursday.

However, the Cowboys have been less “Prize Turkey” and more “Jive Turkey” in their more recent Thanksgiving Day matchups. Does history make them a less safe bet?

Here’s what you should know ahead of Thursday’s NFC East showdown.
