Real Madrid will begin talks with key defender over new contract – Romano

Real Madrid and Spanish international defender Dani Carvajal are poised to begin negotiations for a new contract, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The talks, expected to commence in the coming weeks, signal a mutual desire to extend the veteran defender’s tenure at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 32-year-old right-back, who has been an integral part of Real Madrid’s backline since his return from Bayer Leverkusen in 2013, sees his current contract with the club expire at the end of the season.

Both parties happy

Carvajal has been a key figure in Los Blancos’ recent successes, including multiple Champions League titles and La Liga triumphs.

As per the report, both parties are happy with each other and as such are approaching the negotiations with optimism.

Real Madrid value Carvajal’s experience, leadership, and unwavering dedication, while the player himself has expressed contentment with his role and desire to continue at the club.

This alignment of interests suggests that the talks are likely to progress smoothly.

No desire to play for another European club

Perhaps the most telling aspect of this development is Carvajal’s reported stance on his future.

The report from Romano indicates that the Real Madrid defender has no intention of representing any other European club in his career.

The Spanish international recently admitted that he would not be opposed to the club’s strategy of handing one-year renewals to players in their thirties either.

As one of the club’s homegrown talents, Carvajal’s journey from the academy to becoming a first-team stalwart after a spell away from the club is an example for those coming through the ranks.

As such, it is expected that the two parties will come to an agreement over a new deal without any difficulties.
