The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) is pushing the boundaries. It has announced that next year it will host the first World Cup event in a South American country. The circuit will stop in Brazil in 2025, in Curitiba, at the Olympic Climbing Training Center (photo above). The competition will take place from May 16 to 18 indoors, at the Parque Olímpico do Cajuru. Curitiba is the capital of the southern state of Paraná. With a population of approximately 1,7 million, it is the eighth most populous city in Brazil. Inaugurated in November 2023, the climbing complex has already hosted a Continental Bouldering Cup, then the Brazilian Youth Championship in the same discipline. It will also serve, next month, for the national championships in all disciplines, then host a stage of the South American Cup in bouldering, speed and difficulty in December. The full calendar for the 2025 Climbing World Cup will be unveiled on September 30 by the IFSC.
