Will Karol G top the Billboard 200?

Karol G’s fourth and latest album ‘Mañana Será Bonito’ has been praised for its high production value and for Karol G’s vocal ability. The album topped iTunes albums chart when it was released last Friday, and the inclusion of hit songs ‘Provenza’ and Shakira collab ‘TQG’ has certainly helped the album move forward.

Now it appears that Karol G is aiming for the top spot of the Billboard 200, and with ‘Mañana Será Bonito’ already hitting the charts, she just might do it.

Karol G’s steady rise to the top

Karol G’s 2017 debut album ‘Unstoppable’ peaked at number 192 on the Billboard 200 and came in at number 2 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums and Latin Rhythms Album charts. It finished at number 22 on the year-end Top Latin Albums in 2018 and at number 59 on the Top Latin Albums in 2019.

Her second album, ‘Ocean’, released in 2019, reached number 54 on the Billboard 200, and again reached number 2 on the Top Latin Albums chart. In 2021 ‘KG0516′ reached number 20 on the Billboard 200, and peaked at number 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart. The album also won Top Latin Album at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.

“I’m super happy, super grateful. This is so amazing for me to have my first Billboard for my album and my music. I’m so happy and so grateful,” the singer said on her win.

‘KG0516′ was also certified 11x Multi-Platinum by the Latin Recording Industry Association of America, and became her first album to receive the honor.

Last year, Karol G earned two spots on the Billboard Hot 100, for the songs ‘Provenza’ and the Becky G collab ‘Mamiii’.

Collaborating with Shakira was a hit for Karol G

When it comes to Karol G’s ‘Mañana Será Bonito’, it’s her Shakira collab ‘TQG’ (Te Quedó Grande) that may very well become the album’s biggest hit, coming on the heels of Shakira’s Bizarrap track.

The song is a scathing letter to both singer’s exes, Anuel AA and Gerard Piqué, with lyrics against cheating, and how much happier both singers are since their respective breakups.

“When I started [writing ‘TQG’], it had a personal meaning to me that evolved over time and though it doesn’t represent things now, it was a particular moment in my life,” Karol G said in a Rolling Stones interview.

“Listening to [Shakira’s] story and where she was at, the song ‘TQG’ made a lot of sense. I sent it to her and she loved it.
