W&L Athletics Spring Sport Selections Central – Washington and Lee University

INDIANAPOLIS – The Washington and Lee Generals have four spring sport teams who have earned the ODAC’s automatic qualification into their sport’s respective national tournament and two teams vying for at-large bids.

The Blue and White’s outdoor track and field teams are also hoping to qualify individuals for the DIII National Championships in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on May 23-25.

MEN’S LACROSSE 

Selection Show: May 5, 10 p.m.

The Generals (13-5) earned an at-large bid in this year’s championship after falling to Randolph-Macon in the ODAC semifinals. The men’s lacrosse team will travel will travel to the University of Lynchburg (14-5) for the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament (May 11-12), but they both await winners of midweek play-in games. Centre (14-3) will host Pfeiffer (11-6) for a chance to play Lynchburg on Saturday, while Lake Forest (15-2) hosts Transylvania (11-6), with that winner advancing to the Hill City to play the Generals. MEN’S GOLF

Field Release: May 6

The eighth-ranked Washington and Lee University men’s golf team finished the 2024 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships in third place in the 54-hole tournament. The Generals shot their best round of the tournament, ten strokes over, for a 298 score on the final round. The squad turned in a team scorecard of 300-301-298–899, +35 but it was the Lynchburg Hornets who earned the ODAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships. The full National Championships field will be announced on NCAA.com, here, and the Generals await for the selections in hopes of an at-large bid. The 72-hole championship event is slated for May 14-17 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE 

Selection Show: May 6, 10:30 a.m.

With an exciting 11-10 championships win over No. 13 Roanoke, the eighth-ranked Generals (16-3) of Washington and Lee earned the ODAC’s automatic entry to the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Championship. The Blue and White will take on the winner of Rhodes College (11-4) versus Transylvania University (8-7) in Lexington, Virginia as the Generals were awarded a host site for the tournament. WOMEN’S TENNIS

Selection Show: May 6, Noon

The No. 9 Washington and Lee women’s tennis squad won the ODAC championship for the 21st straight season on Sunday. With their 5-1 championship win over No. 44 Averett on Sunday afternoon, the Generals received the ODAC’s automatic bid into the 2024 NCAA Division III Championship. The Generals are the top-seed at the Johns Hopkins and Baltimore Pod for the first weekend and will take on the winner of Texas-Dalls and Albright. to watch the replay of the Division III women’s tennis selection show from Monday, click here. MEN’S TENNIS

Selection Show: May 6, 12:30 p.m.

The 28th-ranked Washington and Lee men’s tennis team defeated Averett, 5-0, on Sunday to claim their 14th-straight and 42nd overall ODAC championship in program history. The Generals received the ODAC’s automatic bid into the 2024 NCAA Division III Championship. The Blue and White will host the first weekend and welcome Emory, Stevens, Goucher and Sewanee to Lexington. WOMEN’S GOLF

Field Release: May 13

The eighth-ranked Washington and Lee University women’s golf team won its sixth consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship in April with a scorecard of 313-319-315–947 (+83). With the victory, Washington and Lee earned the ODAC’s automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championships. The full field will be announced on Monday, May 13 for the 72-hole championship event that is slated for May 21-24 at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky. The competing teams and qualified individuals will be announced on NCAA.com, here.

MEN’S & WOMEN’S OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD


Members of the Generals are continuing their quest to improve their marks in order to qualify for the DIII T&F championships meet.
